Yannek Käber

I am a forest ecologist who studies drivers and processes that modulate long-term forest ecosystem dynamics. My objective is to understand how the interplay of demographic processes determines the fate of future forest ecosystems. Such a population-dynamic perspective on forest ecosystem dynamics allows us to quantify environmental effects separately and to determine functional forms for competition, regeneration, growth, and mortality. Through my research I contribute to constraining the range of potential social and ecological drivers, emergent patterns, and functional forms including their dynamic linkages to simplified problem-oriented representations of complex ecosystem dynamics.
